I am Dr. Avishek Bhadra, Associate Professor of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at R. G. Kar Medical College, Kolkata, Practising Gynaecologist and Obstetrician and a dedicated clinician, surgeon, teacher, researcher and mentor.

Early Life & Education:

Born to Prof. Dr. Debjani Bhadra, Professor of G&O, and Prof. Dr. Ashok Bhadra, Professor of Radiology and Imaging & Former Principal of Medical College, Kolkata, I grew up in a family deeply rooted in medical excellence. I studied at St. Paul’s Mission School, Kolkata, where I never stood second, and went on to crack the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (2000), joining Burdwan Medical College for my MBBS.

From the very beginning, I excelled academically and received Honours in Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine, Community Medicine, Ophthalmology, and ENT. Senior Prosector in Anatomy (2000–2001), Class Assistant in Microbiology (2002–2003) and Certificate & Medal from the Association of Medical Physiologists, W.B., for securing the highest marks in Physiology (2001).

In 2005, I graduated MBBS as University Topper, winning University Gold Medal (received from the Governor of West Bengal) for securing the highest marks in MBBS. Then, I pursued MS in Obstetrics & Gynaecology from R G Kar Medical College, where again I stood First in the University, receiving the University Gold Medal (2011) from the Governor of West Bengal.

My Further qualifications include:

DNB (Diplomate of National Board) and MNAMS (Member of National Academy of Medical Sciences), New Delhi.
FMAS (Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery) – AIIMS, Kalyani.
FIAOG (Fellow of the Indian Academy of Obstetrics & Gynaecology).
FICOG (Fellow of the Indian College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists).
Worked in the NHS, UK at Luton & Dunstable Hospital; awarded MRCOG (Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists) in London.
Despite opportunities abroad, my love for my country brought me back to India, where I joined WBMES (West Bengal Medical Education Service).

I have trained and mentored countless medical students and postgraduate trainees, many of whom are now successful doctors. I am deeply grateful to my own teachers and remain committed to carrying forward their legacy of medical excellence.
